Tuaca an Italian Liqueur
Tuaca is an Italian Liqueur that contains a hint of vanilla and citrus flavors. This delicious liqueur was created during the Renaissance for Lorenzo the Magnificent, an Italian Ruler. Like most of the Rulers of his time, Lorenzo the Magnificent inherited his throne from his father near the age of 20. Lorenzo appreciated the finer things in life, albeit 500 years ago, and was a huge supporter of the great artists of his time, including Michelangelo, da Vinci, and Botticelli.
All of Florence knew Lorenzo appreciated fine art and other glorious pursuits. The kingdom respected and appreciated their Ruler. Many under his rule attempted to show their appreciation.
An exquisite amber liqueur was the perfect symbol of his patronage. Society lost the recipe during the many years to follow. Gaetano Tuoni and brother-in-law, Giorgio Canepa discovered the recipe. They needed a name synonymous with this exquisite treat. The word Tuaca derived from combining their last names was perfect.
During World War II, American soldiers stationed in Livorno, Italy, discovered the unique flavor of vanilla and citrus-infused spirit. Therefore, Tuaca liqueur became popular among the troops, as they enjoyed it in the evenings after dinner. Imported from Italy, the overall enjoyment of Tuaca in The United States started in the late 1950s.
Enjoy Tuaca neat or on the rocks. Further, it is popularly served with Red Bull or another carbonated energy beverage in certain areas.
